Every day I’m more convinced of the need for internet companies to be supported by professional technological platforms. Let’s be serious, we’d all think it stupendous to have a battery of programmers “inventing” whatever we need. Sometimes it’s essential because the business model we have has never been done before, and an adequate platform doesn’t exist, and every day more so. We are inventing, but in the majority of cases there are thousands of industrial solutions that could be touched upon for what we want to do, without reinventing the wheel.
A growing industrial platform for business support takes years to become strong and to offer all of the features we need. Doing it off your own bat costs an arm and a leg, but in the open-source scene, and in that of the big software brands, there are solutions and specialists who can modify them for our needs.
Some turn their business to software, and that is dangerous if one doesn’t know well what one wants to achieve.
