The other day I was eating with my friend Alberto Diaz, and he commented to me that, amongst several internet classics, they were promoting a Masters in Internet Business. The truth is that one was needed and it seemed to me a great idea, particularly when I saw the panel of teachers.
It was the year 1999 and José Antonio Puente, CEO of IEDE, convinced me to participate in the first Masters in Marketing and Multimedia Communication (MMCM). I believe that it was the first that prepared new web executives, and the truth is that, over the years, I’ve found many of my students in directorial positions in big internet companies or in charge of e-commerce or internet in big companies.
Later, the internet stopped being so fashionable and one after the other, all the Masters about e-commerce, internet company management, online marketing etc. disappeared. Because of this, the initiative of Alberto and his colleagues seems very timely. Whenever one needs more executives with internet knowledge and so on, they’re increasingly hard to find:
We have to train the future generations…
