In my last post on programming, the word “talent” popped up. Its definition is complex. Does a great programmer have talent? Is talent necessary for success with a company? Should you look for talent in entrepreneurs?
Talent is important, but, for me at least, what the English call resilience is more so. I love the explanation of the individual capable of recovering from catastrophe and from the stress and continuing onward. It is something that the entrepreneur needs in order to not throw in the towel when he realizes his talent isn’t enough to pull himself out of the predicament he’s gotten into.
You need this quality daily to move a company forward and, contrary to what you might believe, it is very rare in people who have always worked on a salary and had no liability for the results or who have not had to deal with complex situations entirely on their own.
Entrepreneur, be resilient… is, without a doubt, the best advice that can be given to someone who is launching a new life project.
